New Unique Journey Explores India’s Astounding Diversity
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Nehru said, "The diversity of India is tremendous, it is obvious; it lies on the surface and anyone can see it." A new Myths and Mountains Platinum Presidential Trip, The Poetry of India, will offer a unique introduction to this complex and rich country. The trip is a balanced blend of exploration of the ancient and modern sides of India, along with very unique features including incredible hotels and special rituals and activities that are not available on traditional tours. Three expert scholars on various aspects of Indian culture – history, religion, art and architecture - will address the group on their specialties, enhancing understanding of the places visited. The journey begins in Delhi, with sightseeing and a welcome dinner with entertainment including a traditional mimic, a medicine doctor and an Urdu poet. There will also be a talk here on the emergence of modern India. The excursion then ventures to Agra to visit the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal with an Islamic scholar whose lecture will bring these historic sites to life. The next stop is Rajasthan, for a picnic lunch at the "Forbidden City" of Bhangarh and visits to Neelkanth and the Jain temple of Naganza. Jaipur’s sojourn includes a presentation on Rajasthani art and architecture, prior to a visit to the City Palace that includes a private tour of its residence areas with cocktails and canapés. A private elephant safari will be followed by a lively game of elephant polo with cocktails and lunch. The group then flies to Udaipur for a walking tour of the City Palace before an evening cocktail cruise on Lake Pichola. The grand farewell dinner is at the Oberoi’s private hunting lodge, and features Queen Harish, "The Drag Queen of the Desert." The trip will operate Nov. 1-14, 2009 and be accompanied by Myths and Mountains President Dr. Antonia Neubauer, a true "Indiaphile." Dr. Neubauer said, "Although some of the destinations we visit may not seem totally unique, the way we have put this trip together certainly is." The price is $19,995 per person, double, based on 15 participants, and includes stays in carefully chosen rooms in some of Rajasthan’s finest hotels - the Amanbagh, Amar Vilas, Udai Vilas and Rambagh Palace. Myths and Mountains offers more than 100 itineraries, carefully designed to delve beneath the surface of places visited, allowing guests to become enriched by truly experiencing the people and culture of the destinations.
